I am really concerned about the number of babyboomers acquiring M.S. This does not bode well for this country.

Symptoms of MS: Fatigue, visual problems, slurred speech, Bladder/bowel dysfunction, pain, loss of coordination, muscle weakness, numbness, decline in the ability to think, reason, inability to walk or use hands and arms.

The symptoms can change over time...& even go into remission for periods of time.

Yep. I've known several folks who have died from it. It's hitting us right and left. More research is needed to be sure. It is not a good way to go. Babyboomers and M. S.

I'm not a babyboomer, but I think that there is a raise over all in autoimmune diseases. Just seems like there is so many more ppl now with an autoimmune disease. Makes ya think Babyboomers and M. S.

I'm just another one of the staticial norms of MS. Early 30's and lived in Washington St. and Ky. So 2 different extremes in weather. Then lived in an VERY industerial area. Breathed orange air a lot as a kid. A lot of my childhood friends have had major medical problems as well. Besides my brothers cancer, had my bestfriend had a hysterectomy at 17, almost all of us have digestive problems and the same weird dental problems. Really makes you think. Is all these autoimmune diseases being triggered by our environment??

http://www.mymedicalassistant.com/montelsmk.htm

I found this on the Montel Williams MS website. It's where you can order binders to keep your medical information in. Think it would be great for anyone with a medical problem, Or just anyone. It keeps all your information and forms in one place. I'm on 5 regular medications and can see up to 4 different doctors in one month. Well I've even seen 3 doctors in one day. So think it's going to help keep me more organized to have all my test and lab work information with me. Last few times I've had to have the doctors fax things between them. Now I can just keep everything with me. Plus 20% of the sales go to Montel's MS foundation. So a good cause.

The sister of my son's sperm donor -- born, raised, and still living in Texas -- has MS. So much for that theory!

https://164.109.178.135/Research-McMichael.asp The environmental factors are still being researched. It's an autoimmune disorder generally, and this one study suspects the Vitamin D a person gets (or doesn't) from exposure to the sun as a deterent.

Stress is a definite factor, also.

I wonder if not only stress, but the increase of medications in our foods as causing the immune system to break down. (As we also have increase in cancers.)

Interesting.
