This might seem a bit unusual but I have been eating red apples lately. One variety we get here is Pink lady apples.Yum.I began to have problem this last week.Anyway,I cut out red apples as of yesterday.I feel better.

So,is there something in red apples that isnt in green apples? Did I reach my level of tolerance of whatever it is?

I have food intolerances so if I experience something I'll leave it out for awhile and see if things improve.

If you shed some light on the subject please let me know.

Regards Chris.

Denv12, hi- I'm not a food expert. Just reaching out about your concern. You don't mention what the problem is that you solved by cutting out red apples. My only thought was maybe it had to do with the residue of a particular pesticide in the skin of the apple. In the US some apples seem to be coated with a preservative. That might have an effect too.

Apples actually are often very allergenic foods for some people. My mother breaks out in hives and has even ended up in the emergency room from eating apples. Here are some articles to point you in the right direction:

Have you eaten other "colored" apples while you were eating red; it could just be apples. I believe fruit "allergies" are related to pollen and people with seasonal allergies get them most often, or, for some, eating too much/too often, the body can react to anything that it is getting too often/too much of.

I've been eating green apples everyday since 2006 and red apples everyday for the last few weeks.Knowing that this recent introduction to my food intake could be the only problem I've learnt to deal with it ,sort of last in,first out.

I think what I need to do is cut the red ones out for awhile and then have them again but not as often as I had been.Thats how I deal with food intolerances especially if I over did it.Moderation is the key.

Thank yopu for your reply.

Chris.

Whilst most apples that we come across have cream or white flesh, a small number of varieties have red flesh. These unusual varieties share a number of characteristics and are mostly related to each other to some degree. However these varieties are in all other respects conventional apples with far better flavour, so there aren’t any side effects.

do you have a problem with other red/black fruits? it could be the stuff that turns them red, I know of someone who can't have any red foods at all without coming out in hives. weird but true!

Many fruits can be sweet to the taste but are highly acidic. Apples for one, pineapples, oranges and the list goes on. If you feel better when you don't eat them that that is telling you that your body is reacting to something.
