I'm wondering if someone has had this procedure done....if so I have a few questions to ask. I will get this procedure done in 2 weeks from now in my right eye.

I've read about it a lot...but would like to know how a person who really experienced it felt about it, the aftercare and the final result.

This is what I found was the best information about it...:

Anterior stromal puncture
In a study by Marechal et al, anterior stromal puncture has been proposed as a treatment for recurrent corneal erosion. A soft technique with a curved needle minimizes scarring and prevents corneal perforation. An insertion depth of 0.1 mm was sufficient to cause the production of new basement membrane attached to the anterior stroma.

When more severe cases of recurrent corneal erosion do not seem to respond to any of the above therapies, the use of anterior stromal puncture has been advocated. This procedure involves making 75-150 small punctures with a Rubenfeld needle through the epithelium and the Bowman membrane into anterior stroma. The needle tip is inserted through the loosened epithelium or an epithelial defect, making momentary micropunctures to affect only the anterior stroma.

Patients who have had multiple recurrent erosions, unresponsive to debridement alone or debridement with cautery, have shown significant improvement with anterior stromal puncture. Used correctly, the technique is effective in 90% of cases of recalcitrant recurrent erosion with the first application; a few patients may require a second application of anterior stromal puncture.

With the advent of anterior stromal puncture and related procedures, many clinicians prefer to treat posttraumatic recurrent corneal erosions with these methods, thereby minimizing the number of such patients requiring therapeutic lenses.

Recurrent Corneal Erosion -Anterior stromal puncture I have a wound on my cornea right now...HURTS! They gave me pain-relieving drops, which also enlarged my pupil... so finally I could open my eye instead of holding a tissue against it all the time. I'm still in pain... but it's better. Have use salve with antibiotics 6-8 times/day and those drops enlarging the pupil.
I've had this problem with my eyes for 2 years and 3 months now, so I really hope that I will get better after having the procedure done.
