My doc was treating me for pneumonia for about a week, but he jumped the gun. After further testing, he found I have COPD. NUTS. You know how scary it is to not be able to breathe? I live in Michigan and it's VERY humid!! On days when the humidity is high (which are many) I just plain cannot breathe. And I have to be in air conditioning. I wonder how it will be this winter? Hopefully with the dry air, it will be ok.

So now I get to use rescue inhalers, twice a day other inhalers, pills, etc. for the rest of my stupid life. Crap. Well, I did it to myself, so I should be thrashed. Not to give excuses, but i've had a rough life too so it's no wonder I've had vices.

Just thought I'd whine AGAIN. Thanks for reading -- if you got this far. Hugs, Lee

Lee, I'm sorry - that sucks. Hope with treatment, that it's manageable.

(((Leed)))

COPD is a very frustrating and difficult medical illness to battle. Hopefully, they'll soon come up with treatments that lengthen the controlled period, before having to move onto more intensive treatments.

Btw, if you're a smoker, please stop NOW!! I've cared for several residents in nursing homes battling the latter part of the illness and every one of them smoked despite their misery. The shame in that is smoking dramatically quickens the progress of the disease.

Yes, hate not being able to breathe (and thinking my rescue inhaler isn't going to last long enough for my next prescription, feeling I have to "ration" it). COPD though is even less fun than my asthma. But this weather this summer has wrecked havoc on my asthma.
