Has anyone been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and had cyclothymia-like symptoms?

My husband is suffering with depressive/angry mood swings (on average 2 days a month) related to stressors. He also is obese but doesn't eat a lot, he has strange fluctuations of body temperature, and just recently developed high triglycerides. It seems to me there is a good case for possible hypothyroidism. His blood work says otherwise, but I know there are other ways to diagnose hypothyroidism.

Can anyone relate to this? My husband should be seeing an endocrinologist sometime soon to look into possible thyroid problems.

Yes, I have hypothyroid, plus the symptoms of cyclothymia. I was recently diagnosed (in the hospital) with MDD (plus psychosis nos,I think). Before that it was schizophrenia, and more recently schizoaffective.

I also am overweight, and sedentary. I don't know about the fluctuating temperature, except that it improved post menopause.

I wish you lots of good luck.

I have hashimotos and yeah I have all those. If I don't eat I gain weight. Body temp is a pain and it is up and down, it didn't change with menopause for me. My last dr said that if I balance the hashimotos that my cholesterol would fix it's self. But the dr before that put me on crestor for high cholesterol and my symptoms got worse with the added muscle aches and brain fog. There isn't enough money in the world to get me to try doing that again

There a number of good places on line like stopthethyroidmadness.com

But you are right he really has to see an endocrinologist to figure it out. I have been dealing with it for years though at first it was thought to be hypothyroidism which was a misdiagnoses which has been fixed to hashimotos.
