Not sure if you all saw that I was recently diagnosed with MS. Well they had me do intravenous steroids for 3 days....1000mg a day. Now they're tapering me off, have me taking prednesone at home, only 50mg a day. So it was a big jump and I'm hating the way I feel in the mornings before I take them, well this is the first morning I have experienced without the high dose still wearing off. Last night I started coming down, and the PAIN oh man. And emotions. I know it's only temporary, but I'm hating it. Any experience with steroids out there?

My mom was on Prednesone for a week or so too. It made her blood sugar go crazy. She'd be high one moment and then low a few hours later. We had to watch her very carefully. It wasn't a good experience for her. Luckily, she's off it now. I don't have much experience with it other than that. Feel better.

I know they effect your moods and they can make your face round. That's what happens to me. Just please take good care of yourself and rest as much as you need.

Hugs,

Jan

Steroids can make you hungry and eat more than you realize! Watch your weight, and if you begin to gain, keep written track of what and how much you eat. I think it might also involve not utilizing all the food like your body used to...anyway many ppl gain while on steroids, but IMO you don't have to.

I hope these preliminary measures bring you good relief Guess I'll be posting here now too =) Please be sure to contact your local MS society. (Or call the National MS Society) or via net www.nmss.org The understanding you'll receive, and the little things to do and not, are invaluable! TC!

While I'm at it... Guess I'll be posting here now too =) Please consider contributing to the MS society..they are helping with many disorders (one of mine included.)

TC... and fasten your seatbelt..it might be bumpy ride.
