I finally got around to picking up my new progressive glasses today and I love the. I hadn't realized just how bad my vision had gotten. When I put the new glasses on I could easily read the little tiny type at the top of the reading eye chart, and when I went grocery shopping, I could easily see all the aisle markers, which I haven't seen clearly in a while.\

I'm feeling a bit dizzy from getting used to them, and stairs are definitely a challenge, but overall I think they're good.

My eye Dr. is going to have me back for a follow-up in 2 weeks just to make sure everything is ok.

I'm so glad you like them. I love mine. I tried lined bifocals but got totally freaked out by the line dividing my world in half. These seem so natural! It's been at least 15 years now. The only negative thing I've seen has been since my stroke and I really had to search. I read that our eye muscles might not get as much exercise because we're supposed to point our nose in the direction we want to look. Ie less use of peripheral vision while wearing the trifocals/progressives.

It's surprising to notice things we've been missing, and had no clue we were!

I'm so glad your new progressives seem to be working very well for you. It sounds like you are well on your way to becoming used to them.

My boyfriend feels I should have given progressives or bifocals, because with my glasses, I can see the stuff in the distance much better now, but trying to read up-close is no good. It's less blurry with the glasses off. Still, there's some minor blur, so it's a bit frustrating trying to read tiny writing. I should have gone back to the eye doctor (and he never suggested a follow-up as with you, splitimage) and asked to have them adjusted, but I just kept putting it off.

So glad to hear that it has gone well and that they are helping. I did not realize how much I had been missing either and what a difference it has made as well as for my arms in not holding things out anymore. I no longer have "too short arm disease". Here's to seeing again!!

Aren't they great?? I've been wearing them for quite a few years and I would NOT do without them! You'll get used to the dizziness, believe me. And stairs ARE a challenge, and you have to be careful, but now I can go up and down stairs with no problem.

What I love is being able to see the computer and the dashboard of my car! LOL Without them I can't see either of them. LOL And I mean I CAN'T!

I'm due for another eye exam, so I'll be getting another pair of progressives soon. Gotta get rid of this FRAME too -- it's too heavy for my poor nose. I think my lenses are getting thick & heavy too. ARRGGHH. Ohh the trials of getting old. Hugs, Lee
