we have to be very careful when we are offering support to others who have questions concerning the health of themselves or their loved ones.

generalizing about something such as cancer is one thing. but being adamant and telling someone that we're sure that a doctor would have done such and such and such and such and therefore, the DX is___________ could really give someone false hope.

just because we might have a lot of medical experience, (i.e. bill frist, who "DXed" the young lady in florida via a video)or be related to a ton of medical professionals, no one can diagnose diddly ---- on a computer.

offering support and love and a shoulder should be enough when it is a problem that sounds extremely serious and needs to be left to professionals.

while i certainly feel comfortable agreeing that aspirin helps a headache, clear liquid snot probably isn't signs of an infection, lower quadrant pain in the back should be checked out asap, etc. etc. etc. other than that, i'm not touching any of it with a ten foot pole. giving false hope, even for a nanosecond isn't something that i want to do.

diagnosing here on forums end of rant. xoxoxo pat

People are free to offer opinions here, but we cannot possibly replace an irl Dr. Surely everyone knows that.

Hugs,

I agree...and would hope for those members who do not have a DX from a doctor, that they wouldn't DX themselves. TC y'all!
