I had an annual physical last week. The results are in and are not great. One of the things found is that I am low on testosterone. I did not ask to be tested for this but the nurse practitioner authorized it because I have not been pursuing a romantic life.
I have seen the ads for a new medication - AndroGel - to treat this that is applied in the underarm area. Has anyone else been treated for low testosterone and, if so, what forms of medication have your used? Have the treatments been successful? |

I have a good friend who has this condition, and he goes weekly or semi-weekly for an injection and this works great for him. I don't know if you need this kind of treatment or not, but like I said, it works great for him, and he feels much better too.
Best of luck and I hope you find what works for you. God bless. Hugs, Lee ![]()

I have an MD appointment on Monday to discuss the low testosterone condition with my physician. My research indicates that treatment is not recommended for people with heart conditions and that would be me. However, treatment would help with bone density though I can do other things for that. Treatment can be administered by various ways including pills allowed to dissolve in the mouth, patches, gels applied to the skin and injections.
I think my MD wants me to get it treated because I am constantly depressed and have never had a romantic life. Emotionally, I don't believe that I am capable of a romantic life, so I don't know where all of this will lead. |

My H has been on testerone injections for 2.5yrs every other week.
At optimal blood levels he was grouchy/cranky. He was gonna quit them but his mdoc had him stay on a lower dose for mood improvement . It was worth it, for me anyway... His major problem is ED but mdoc says his B/P med, Celexa & being overweight are his main problem. Also takes a med for heart rhythm & diuretic , also a cholesterol med. These do not cause interactions with the testerone injections. Hope you feel better with this treatment. ![]() |

my husband is on injections every other week. His was the lowest our dr had ever seen at 106. I give him his shots bi weekly. it has improved his levels but I can't tell alot of difference intimately but I have noticed he is not having what he thought was panic attacks but turned out to be hotflashes from it being so low. Good luck!

I saw the MD on Monday. He wants me to use a gel that is rubbed on the shoulders and upper arms. He says it may help with my depression and lethargy. I will make a decision after seeing a new T with prescribing priviledges this Thursday. He may prescribe something else.
