I have about 20 or so sores on my scalp that have shown up over the last few days. They are painful, scabby..yes I scratched at them to a bit because it was kind of itchy. I cannot see them myself as my hair is very thick and most are on the side and back of my scalp. But feel about as large a a pencil earaser.
I have had them before in the past here and there but maybe like 4-5 at a time, not a whole scalp full. I know I read that people with celiac sometimes get sores like this but that usually they do not have the digestive problems. I have lots of digestive problems from celiac so I am not sure. I already have a referal for a dermatologist for a different problem so I will ask. But guess the sores may be healed and gone before then. So I am curious to know if any other people with celiac here have experienced this? And if I can put something on them to relieve the pain?

i get saeboherric dermatitis all the time, i am unsure if it is connected to my celiac or just another symptom of my allergies.
I use betnovate scalp application (active ingredient is betamethasone valerate). i also avoid dairy products, use only natural shampoo and conditioner and only condition the ends of my hair not near the scalp. it could be a nutrient deficiency, but they usually show on the body too. don't colour, perm or treat your hair until the scabs are gone as it could leave you extra sensitive to what you used. hope this helps x |
