It appears that what they are finding is that it is the aluminum in the antiperspirants that could be causing breast cancer (in men also.) Since the product is slathered over the glands in the armpits. ...

Please consider using products without the aluminum. This means that you have to let it dry so you don't get the white residue (which is why the aluminum was added. antiperspirents )

I use Tom's of Maine. I have lavender and apricot. I don't care for the lavender scent. Apricot, as weird as it sounds, doesn't have much of a perfumey smell at all.

I smelled their lemongrass deodorant at Walgreen's. That's going to be the one I get next.

You still sweat and get a tad bit musky, but it's not a "OMG, go take a shower" stench. It's more like how we're supposed to smell, dare I say almost sexy? antiperspirents

This antiperspirant causing breast cancer story is an urban legend.

[b]Thank you for that link, green.

http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art5651.asp Even this older link shows concerns over ALUMINUM and that it has been proven harmful to the human body. Anything this controversial allows me to err on the side of safety, and omit it from my life.

I did not receive any email on this, but noted a recent study that leans towards the aluminum connection. Even 40-50% lymph node involvement, as stated in your article, is high enough for me to be concerned. Lymph nodes are responsible for spreading cancer throughout the body.

I posted this so others can also make their own conscious decision. antiperspirents

It's not true that "nearly all breast cancers" occur in the upper outer aspect of the breast, the part closest to the armpit. Rather, 40–50% of all breast cancers occur in that region, in part because more breast tissue naturally "lives" in this area, compared to the three other quadrants of the breast: upper inner, lower outer, and lower inner.

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">

Nowhere does it say there is a 40-50% lymph node involvement in breast cancer. The site I linked to is very reputable. There are many experts who review the information.

I found this site while researching for breast cancer after I found my breast lump. I think the information they have is very good.

I'll have to read more about the aluminum connection. Do you have a research paper on that?

It has been reported that this old study linking the two has been now shown to be false. It is in all the recent studies and major cancer sites. Doing a search on it , will come up with lots of sources about the false information .
I remember a few years ago the same myth was reported about using aluminum pans, everyone threw them out, then it was found not to be true even. LOL

aluminum is a potential adduct (attaches to and alters our DNA) . . . that's reason enough for me to fear aluminum

I use Alba Deodorant Stick which provides skin friendly, long lasting protection without preservatives, methylparaben, propylparaben, aluminum or propylene glycol.

I don't use any antiperspirants or deodorants. I find I don't need them. antiperspirents I just smelled my armpits after a day of working and I can't smell anything bad.

Those who do use antiperspirants shouldn't be frightening themselves, thinking that they will develop breast cancer.

My mom had cancer underneath her arms but it surely wasn't a result of her antipersperant/deodorant. It had just spread from someplace else...

I try not to worry too much about this. I figure we're gonna die somehow anyways...it doesn't matter how many precautions we take...it's all inevitable.
