Talked to some workman's comp nurse who said it sounded like a sprain(it probably is) and she told me to ice it and put heat and raise it a ove my heart and i can do this at
work??? Hello i work at computer in a call center how do i raise my leg above my heart and where do i get heat? We aren't allowed to plug in any electrical items. Oh so it was determined i didn't need to see a Dr but i DID need a drug test and breathalyzer and i couldn't drive myself and no one from work could drive me because of liability. So i had to get my emergency contact to miss her work and drive me and for some reason they sent us across the city. I missed 2and 1/2 hrs from work, had a migraine and my boss qas going to make me umy sick time. Thank goodness HR emailed him and told him it was workman's comp. Oh and the best part? I fell in a meeting in front of tons of people and a BIG boss.and HE was MAD at ME. Because at first they asked if i was ok and i said yes and sat through the meeting. In the meeting my ankle was starting to kill me but i don't want to interupt the meeting. So afterward i tell my boss. So the BIG boss says, you said you weren't hurt and now you're hurt. Geeez louise. Are we on on an episode of Law and Order? I thought it was pretty understandable that my ankle was starting to
pain me, and i don't think i'm company for a trillion dollars over a sprained ankle. All i know is my ankle
hurts and all i got was a drug test, breathalyzer and interrogation basically.

No one in the whole group was nice to you? Either you work with cold-blooded lizard people, or you just focused on the guy that was mean to you.

It is your responsibility to report a workplace accident or it would count against you. Say you found out your ankle was more seriously hurt later on, then they could totally ******** you about not reporting it. So this 'big' boss decides to be an asshole and try to intimidate you for reporting by suggesting you need to be tested for crap, no doubt firing you is a better option in his mind. He is never going to look out for you, you just have to accept it and look out for yourself as much as possible. Congrats on reporting the incident correctly, and I'm glad it was in front of witnesses.
Thanks for this!

No, i don't work with lizard people. Haha, but even the guy where i got the DRs office where i got the
drug test thought it was weird no one checked out my ankle except over the phone. He says everyone else usually sees the dr too and it looked like there was something pretty wrong with my foot. The nurse says just to wait and see if it gets better and if it doesnt or gets worse THEN call her back and go to the dr. If they want to save money that badly why don't they assess whether i'm on drugs over the phone too. Seems like my company spent a lot more money on that and cared much more about that than whether or not i was okay. Oh well, i dont care. If it doesnt get better or does get worse then i'll call back and go to the dr and just thank my lucky stars they arent in charge of my other healthcare like when i see my oncologist etc. .. that would be a nightmare.

That is really, really odd. Did they ask you to fill out an accident form? If anything, go to see a doctor on your own, then inform HR and your workers-comp that you want it covered. There is usually no way around this for them.

Essentially, you waiting (which is what they want you to do, I spent too much time around soulless bosses), the injury can get worse and you can be penalized for not "taking initiative" and getting it taken care of. That's how they get out of using their insurance on you, and it's not your fault at all. Go to the ER if it gets worse, don't listen to them and just wait. Especially if they are checking over the phone. God, you can assess a bodily injury involving muscle and tendons over the phone, it had to be examined. How dense of them.

Thanks. I thought is was odd. Ie the nurse asking me what color is your ankle? How is suwollen is it? Are there any obvious deformities like bones sticking out? And of course , always my favorite on a scale of one to ten with ten being the worst pain you have ever experienced, how badly does it hurt? It reminded me of the time my neighbor who now has macular degeneration was having me describe a mushroom to him as he knows which mushrooms are deadly and which are edible. What color is it? Does it have brown spots? How big are the spots? Are they close together? Ummm. . . I decided it's better to just not chance eating the mushroom. What if my idea of close together spots is different from his?
