I'm scared. I'm so anemic the dr is retesting my blood monday. I have to go to obgyn sept 9th because of ultrasound results but no one told me results. Referral lady said i had to go as ultrasound showed "some things" Seriously, that was her medical terminology, "some things." Thank you nurse lady for telling me . . . ABSOLUTELY NOTHING USEFUL.
whenever i've been sick before , even with migraines daily , when i had pertussis and then pneumonia for over a year, i knew i'd get better. This time, i'm so short of breath. I feel like i could just stop breathing any moment and i have to take care of my dog and kittens and my Godson. And i have to catch up on my tithing at church. And i want to learn to play the banjo still. I just dont knows if maybe i ran out of chances. My mom tried to kill us so many times and i really should have died in a car accident a couple years ago
but i never felt like this until now. Maybe it's just the anemia making me feel like this and i'm not really dying? I hope so. This is so stuuuupid. I used to pray fir God to kill me. I guess i can't make up my mind.

Your shortness of breath could be caused by a major anxiety attack, but best to have it checked out. I know due to some medical results I just got I'm have full blown anxiety attack and having trouble breathing.

I'm feel the same as you. In the past I have wished I would die, but now that it could be a reality, it doesn't sound like such a good idea.

I hope your visit with you obgyn turns out to be nothing serious and that you get your anemia under control.
Best wishes
Gayle

Shortness of breath is a symptom of anemia but i also have anxiety and asthma. On the bright side we both choose life. Feel better, Gayle. Thank you, very much for your response.

Sorry you're feeling sick ((likewater)) and anxious about test results. Did they prescribe an iron supplement, because they should. Get a good quality one because they're easier on the stomach...as your pharmacist to recommend one. Take with food and avoid dairy because this binds with the calcium and reduces absorption. Instead drink or eat something with Vitamin C because this increases absorption.

My daughter was low on iron and last year so was I. One day I was riding bikes with my daughter and normally its easy...but i barely could make it back. Felt like I had cement shoes on and I was super tired. Low iron can make you feel bad and I hope you feel better soon....hope the results come back good.

I have just had a number of blood tests that have raised the issue of low iron. Low iron can make you short of breath. With the investigation of why my blood iron is low I am now taking an iron tablet supplement. So tired. Exhausted. It supposed to take a few weeks to raise the level. Please get some-one to recommend a good iron supplement.

We will go on this journey together likewater.

Be kind to yourself. Anemia feels like hell, I know. You do the smallest thing and you don't get enough oxygen for that so move slow. I hope you have the opportunity to really take it easy.

It is a long wait they put you on. I can understand wondering what they really found. If you think you can handle it, you can always ask for a copy of those files, at least where I live they have to send you copies. Might not be good reading someone's speculations if nothing is concluded yet. But know you probably have this option.

Avlady, can you still eat spinach and lentils and lean red meat? And also eat it with some tomatoes or other fruit with vitamin c?

It is good to eat well to try and adjust the iron levels. Lamb was on tonight's menu. Bottom line is we all need to find the cause of Iron deficiency. Is it based on a poor diet or are other body parts doing things that have so far gone unnoticed until we got sick?

Get Floradix with iron. It is a liquid - a syrup with iron, vitamins, herbs, and natural flavors.

It is very expensive, but it works so well. Worked for my daughter, myself, and even my mother for awhile until she had develop problems due to metastasis in the spleen several months before she died. Worked for a girlfriend of mine. Worked for her children.

It has to be refrigerated. It has to be taken half-an-hour before eating a meal, so you need to plan. It costs about 30$ a month - you can compare prices between Amazon and drugstore.com and maybe some other retailers.

But it works great, and it does not cause constipation unlike cheap iron pills. The iron in Floradix is bio-available so you would get much more benefit from it - the iron in pill form is not easy for the body to make use of. Finally, Floradix tastes great and contains lots of B vitamins.

I gave up eating iron rich foods since they didn't help my levels at all. If I take an iron pill (I was prescribed the "kind" type that will not upset your stomach so much) and if I don't throw up I will have severe stomach pain and black water coming out the other end (it doesn't even deserve the name stool). My doc thinks iron shots are too expensive and will only give them when I hit the very dangerous levels of anemia. Yay.

Hope I'm not grossing you out or prying but do you have bleeding or heavy menses?
