I am starting on Monday. I have done some reading, but of course it's all cookie cutter and over logical. I was wondering if anyone here had experience with it/is currently taking it.
I am actually nervous to start this one. I am taking it for Adult Onset Still's Disease.

I did take prednisone for several months, to try and manage chronic urticaria I battled several years ago. It didn't work for me though. Maybe my dosage wasn't high enough? I didn't notice any effects whatsoever. However, I do tend to be very medication resistant though. Maybe that's why??
Gentle hugs to you ![]()

I am taking it for a resistant (aka, miserable) sinus infection. I did a taper dose
pack of 60 down to 10 mgs over 6 days, and now I am taking it for another 10 days. It sounds like you will be taking it more long term...I know some people tend to retain water while on it if they are not careful of their diet, so I would watch your salt intake at first just so you get an idea of how your body reacts (my mother swelled up on it because she was not careful with what she ate). Hugs to you and I hope it works! ![]() |

I have been on Prednisone for short durations due to my asthma. It was a miracle drug in one way--for awhile it was the only thing that brought drown the inflammation enough to breathe. I felt great on it!!
However, it makes my blood sugar dangerously high so I have since found alternate meds that work almost as well. For some, myself included, weight gain can be an issue. But with exercise, it converts to muscle mass (some bodybuilders take prednisone illegally) For me, feeling like I can breathe again made it possible for me to get out and do things, not just hide out in the AC. (hot weather makes my asthma worse) |

Teen Idle, my lupus doc puts me on it when my lupus flares up to the point I can't function. Sometimes, my skin hurts so bad I can't put clothes on, but at the same time, he will call my pdoc and have him monitor me extra close. Sometimes when I'm on a steroid, it does trigger a manic episode, which is never good. For me it's a trade off.
Although, I do like the extra energy that the steroid gives me. Makes me eat like a pig too. |
