I had a little problem with the Metabolic Syndrome. I am on medications, and when I finally went to a doctor, after years, to check my blood work, I found out I had prediabetes, high cholesterol, and abnormally high thyroid numbers. I also had a thyroid nodule and needed a biopsy. A biopsy. I never had one before, and that was it. I quit everything; all desserts, candy, cake, cookies, pies, pastries, etc. I gave up cheese and started watching my fat and sugar intake. I ate only good, natural foods and increased my protein. I ate some fruit, but was really careful. For a snack, I might have some raw almonds. I increased my exercise routine, and cut out caffeine. Well, it did the trick. My biopsy was benign, my thyroid, cholesterol, and sugar levels went way down to normal, and I lost weight. All of us on medication may have the Metabolic Syndrome. It is important to check your blood work regularly, and watch your diet the best that you possibly can. You'll feel much better both physically and mentally.

Thank you for your post. Fortunately, I have my blood check twice a year. So far so good.

I have Metabolic Syndrome too. I had been keeping it in check with diet modification and exercise (bike riding and walking). My problem is high triglycerides. I am delighted to hear that you are doing well and did it without medications!

I have metabolic syndrome. Do you have a problem with minor infections / irritations, e.g., urinary tract infections and/or yeast infections? If so, what treatments do you use, e.g., a change in diet to avoid all sugars?

I am diabetic, type 2. I got a LOT of infections of skin as well as other areas. One thing that helped as taking cold-pressed virgin coconut oil. Helped a lot with infections. I've also cut out carbs and sugars, even sugar substitutes. I hardly ever get an infection anymore. Good luck.

I have been using extra-virgin olive oil on a lot of my goods because it increases my good cholesterol. Unfortunately, IBS requires a low fat diet. I have been paying the consequences. I have decided to try another nutritionist. The last one I saw told me to eat only simply prepared lean meats and veggies. Unfortunately, that is not a practical or doable diet. I cannot tolerate a lot of veggies and am only a moderate meat eater. These health issues are contributing a lot to my depression and feelings of being an outsider / freak of nature. |
