I shattered my right leg below the knee six years ago. After four operations, I went through three different sessions of physical therapy.
During the second operation, the surgeons opened the opposite side of my leg and removed a large portion of swollen tissue that was too much to include in reconstructing my leg. I ended up with a large titanium implant in my leg with sixteen screws and two bolts in my ankle. I now have severe problems with tightness in my right leg. Despite stretching and exercise loosening and stretching this leg, I have constant pain and much trouble walking beyond half a mile. Does anyone have a good program to stretch and increase flexibility in their hip or leg? I would appreciate any kind of comments or advice.

Might be a good idea to go to a doctor and see what is actually happening. Could be a few issues related to the pain. Your doctor should be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks, possum. I have gone to my doctor several times about this and she always schedules me for another set of physical therapy appointments. I have done this three times now and have had no relief.
She did an x-ray on my hip and said there was no arthritis in the bones (more exactly, there was only what was expected for a person my age, 55). I feel like I am being ignored by her, the physical therapists and the rest of the medical establishment. I am running out of faith concerning their desire to really help me. They seem to feel I should just 'put up with it.'
