Ok, so just to start off I have had depression, anxiety in the past, and have OCD and adult ADHD. But it has been many years since any major depression has struck.
About 2 years ago I started experiencing short term memory loss. Not simply forgetting to do something, I mean can't remember names, conversations, or where I was going. Since then I have developed hand and foot tremors when resting, like laying back on the couch or sitting at work, and especially while I am driving. Its hard to walk because the back of my legs are stiff and achy. My shoulders are stiff, achy and don't move much when walking. Basically, I am experiencing signs of Parkinson's. Now, early on when I had only slight tremors and memory fog, and after my doc took blood work and mri that were all clear, he suggested that maybe my depression is back. I told him no because I didn't feel depressed. But I let him talk me into taking Zoloft. I took that for 6 weeks and it was horrible. NOW I became depressed and nauseous and felt terrible. After waiting 6 weeks I had to stop taking them. I feel better from this side effects, but my tremors and muscle stiffness has gotten worse. My memory is no better, though has not gotten any worse. So, am I experiencing some sort of mental issue that is manifesting these physical symptoms? Since it's been almost 2 years and has not cleared up, I made an appointment with the Neurology department at a local hospital. I have to wait until January next year. But I sit here wondering if I will walk in just to have them tell me that I need mental therapy. If this is all mental, then I have lost it, and that is very concerning. |

I am glad you are seeing a neurologist. I had some such symptoms and it was decided that the meds I was on was causing some of it.
Do you mean what if the doctor says these symptoms are "all in your head"? |
