Today in therapy my shrink wondered if I have low thyroid and called my regular doctor. Turns out they haven't tested that in a while so I got a blood test. Don't have the results back yet, but looked up the low thyroid and I have every single one of the symptoms and have for more than a year.
The worst part is having no energy. I do what I have to and the rest of the time I'm in bed. I sleep too much and have gained weight. I try to exercise but it feels like I'm waterlogged and can't move. In other words, it's a total drag. I've also lost my concentration and I'm in grad school so I have to try to maintain myself. It's a struggle. At this point I'm actually hoping that it is thyroid so that I can take something for it. The anti-depressants helped with my mood but did nothing for my energy level so I'm going off of them for now.

I'm EXACTLY in the same situation as you! I have literally no energy. Even walking takes a huge effort for me. I'm hoping too that it's a thyroid problem and it's gonna be checked out on monday. The results will be back by tuesday. So hopefully I will get closer to the solution. I suggest you to try these:
Coenzime Q10 Magnesium D-Ribose L-carnitine I'm personally not taking these yet but I will! I've heard really good things about D-Ribose in particular, so I'm really looking forward on giving it a go. The effective dose for low energy is 15g taken 3 times a day. We'll see how it goes. Unfortunately it's incredibly hard to get here in Budapest, Hungary.

Sorry to hear that you are feeling this way too. It is a terrible way to feel. I still haven't heard back about the labs so I'm waiting.
Thanks for the list of supplements. I'm not sure I can get them all here either but I will try. Let's hope both of us start to recover soon.

If you're older, ask your regular doctor to check your B12 too! Vitamin B-12 and depression: Are they related? - Mayo Clinic
That has helped my tiredness (my doctor tested mine and it was low). It can be a good idea to take a B complex vitamin anyway (though they are huge and taste nasty :-)

I agree with perna, that you need to check your B levels. Vit D deficancy also causes depression, weight gain and fatigue... and if your a guy have your testosterone level monitored as well it can cause the same problems!

Most doctor's determine your thyroid function by a TSH test. They should also be doing a Free T3 and Free T4 as well as Reverse T3 and Reverse T4. A lot of regular meds focus on both or only one of those things. And without those tests, you may be okay according to the TSH, but there might be a difference shown in the other tests.

Once I was on medicine for my underactive thyroid I felt SO much better. The depression disappeared and my energy was a lot better. Hold true friend. It can be fixed!
