I've been taking a kung-fu class every week for about 7 months or so, and usually in the middle of class I begin to feel nauseated and have to excuse myself for a few minutes. That's most likely just from fatigue. What I need advice or perhaps help with is what usually follows; my ears clog up and sounds feel like they're being made through a wall of cotton balls. I start feeling extremely dizzy, and have even nearly fainted a few times, with my vision completely fizzling out like static. I also grow extremely tired very quickly, and it becomes hard to breathe. Is this simply a need to exercise more and not subject my body to intense movement only once a week?

Thank you,
Rin

Blood sugar? Do you take anything and eat prior to going there?

@LaborIntensive: I usually eat a small breakfast at least 30 minutes to an hour beforehand, consisting of things such as eggs, waffles, or cereal.

You may want to keep a closer eye on your meals to make sure your getting the right nutrients you need and be sure to drink lots and lots of water. Lots and LOTS of water.
But I know how you feel. That exact same thing happens to me a LOT. It's usually because I'm dehydrated, but there can be other causes too.

@Stronger: Okay, I'll make sure of that, thank you. Dehydration may be the case, I tend to not be thirsty very often and that might negatively impact my health.

I would have your doctor check you for exercise induced asthma and maybe wonder if there is something at the location that you are allergic to? (the ear clogging/breathing problems).

@Perna: I will definitely ask the next time I have a doctor's appointment! I didn't even know that such a thing existed, that is, asthma that only appears when exercising; thank you. I haven't had an allergy test in a while, but I don't have any allergies that cause reactions that severe from those that I know of.

It might be prudent to have your blood pressure checked as well.

Crying isn't a sign of weakness. It's a sign of having tried too hard to be strong for too long.

Perna, while it certainly isn't possible to diagnose someone online just by symptoms, and you, like me, are probably not a healthcare professional, I think you nailed it!

I say this because - I have been really struggling with my workouts with the exact same symptoms as the original poster described. And, for a year now, I have been to various doctors - cardiologist, neurologist, internal medicine, had all kinds of tests, etc, which showed I am basically very healthy... Except for the part where I spent time at almost every workout hunched over a trash can at the gym puking and feeling dizzy like I was going to pass out.

So, I did my own research and found out about exercise induced asthma and made an appointment with a pulmonologist a month ago. Bingo - I had a 58% reduction on my ability to exhale versus normal. EIA. He started me on two inhaled drugs and a pill every day - and it was like someone threw a switch. Nausea completely gone, dizziness diminished about 95%, and best of all my field of vision no longer fuzzes over and turns bright green, and I don't feel like the room is tilted at a 60 degree angle.

To the OP - definitely talk about that possibility with your doctor - it's an easy test, spirometry where you breath into a machine for a few minutes, plus a chest X-ray. During the test, they will give you albuterol to see if it works - for me, it was dramatic - felt like all of the sudden the pressure in my chest was relieved, it was quite dramatic really.

Been on the meds about a month now, I notice a big difference, and so do both of my personal trainers and my swimming instructor.

I had that today and spoke to gym instructor. He said it can be caused by heating up as I get very hot also. Make sure you are drinking plenty of cool water
