I had some swelling on my **** and I was concerned, so I had it checked out and it was only haemmerhoids. Should I really have known this? I suspected they were just haemmerhoids and I could've picked up some cream on my own from the pharmacist.

No, it was correct of you to go. It's impossible for you to know if it is a benign thing like a hemorrhoid or a skin tag from a fissure or something that needs more extensive treatment (which is not all just cancer).

When in doubt it is NOT wrong to see the doctor. I have a friend whom I can't for my life convince to see a doctor for a growth on his body, which could be a cancer but he shrugs it off and says it is "nothing". It might of course be nothing but isn't it better to know?

So I think you did the right thing. I hope it didn't cost you a fortune to go.

I hope so. I'm all business at the doctor's, very efficient, so I don't waste his time.

But I wonder if sometimes he wishes I didn't bother him for small things. In my mind it was better to go and be embarrassed, than potentially die of embarrassment. I kept thinking what if I died because I put this off for a week or a month? Then I would be kicking myself.

I need to go see a doctor about the same thing. I keep putting it off because of the blood thinners I'm on, in case, they need to do anything surgical. But I need to have it looked at soon. Glad you went on to the doctor because it could have been something more serious. I worry about mine but have bigger health problems right not to worry about it.
