I have ulcerative colitis (an auto immune disease that causes ulcers on the colon and bloody, urgent diarrhea) and C. diff (a highly contagious infection that occurs in the colon, usually to people who are elderly or immunocompromised).

So the colitis will never go away but I'll be on medicine to help with the symptoms. I can't get rid of the c diff but ideally that can be cured.

I have to get my fourth colonoscopy tomorrow. I haven't been able to eat anything since last night. Just clear liquids and chicken broth. I have a pounding headache and feel sick to my stomach. I have diarrhea all the time and today is no different. I haven't started the prep yet, but it's a split dose - half tonight and half tomorrow morning.

So basically I can't eat anything until tomorrow after the procedure...which is at 1:30pm. I'm hungry and grumpy and pissed. I feel sick, and have a headache. I hate the doctors I can't imagine this is fair. It's Inhumane. I know it's for the best but I really really hate to go through this procedure every two years. I mean, that's only two years if I am not having any symptoms.

I hate this. I almost wish I could get dehydrated so they wouldn't have to do the procedure, or that it would make them say -gheesh, I wish we didn't have to do this to her bc she's fine and symptom free. Next time maybe I'll think twice. I just wanna tell them to go screw! I hate this. I have a headache and just wish my life was over, I wish these next few days were freaking over! I hate myself!

((((doggiedo)))) I am so sorry you're having to deal with all this trouble. At least you'll get to eat after the test tomorrow.

I know colonscopies are no fun just in themselves, on top of all the other things you are going through.
Thanks for this!

Prepping for colonoscopies completely sucks. I have to do them frequently and dread it every single time. It could be worse for me though. My sister did have colon cancer and had to do colonoscopies three times a year. Yuck. I feel for you. Hope it goes well for you tomorrow.
Thanks for this!

Thx guys. I know it could be worse and I get that. I have spent weeks in the hospital for my colitis and almost lost part of it due to this disease. Out of all the things I could have, I have a problem with my butt?!?!? Doesn't seem fair. Comics, yes, but not fair. Not at my age. No one is ever gonna love me with this problem. It's so gross.

Would YOU love someone struggling with the same issue? I think you might. (Not a first or second date topic though eh?)

I ca't have these procedures as I can't handle the prep. Oh well.

Drink lots of water...the headaches are often from dehydration.

May it go well for you.

There are herbal/alternatives for these maladies...usually without such side effects that you need a medication to handle the side effects.

Ugh. Hope this afternoon comes and goes soon for you and everything turns out okay. I'm due for another but have been putting it off.

My sister's gastroenterologist was named Dr. Butts (I kid you not).

That's hilarious! >_> not really, but you know what I mean lol.

OP I feel ya, I had a colonoscopy when I was nine years old. I think that's when I found out I was pretty much lactose intolerant. :/

I hope that everything went well for you and that the doctors will be able to get you some help. Without further procedures like that.

Lol that name is kinda funny. I heard one woman wrote with magic marker on her butt- "this side up" and the docs and nurses got a kick out of it. Overall the procedure went fine. I don't remember a thing which is what I wanted. Everything is ok- no current flare of my condition. I guess the best outcome possible. I don't have to have another one until another 3 yrs. thank God!!

My sister actually put a temporary tattoo on her butt for Dr. Butts. It was a heart with an arrow going through it and "I love Dr. Butts". He actually took a picture of it and gave her a copy. I guess when you have this done so often by the same doctor you can bond in very strange ways.

I'm glad things looked good for you and the procedure was uneventful. The best of both worlds.
