Hello everybody,

I am a 24 YO man suffering from many strange symptoms of burning sensations, fibromyalgia and some other non diagnosed things, today at morning i had some low grade heart ache lasted 20 min had to go to emergency room, the doctor just listened to the beats and told me its just some heart palpitations, he didn't even perform EKG or so, but he told be i have to perform Holter ECG, when i was young i did such a thing and i had some minor backflow in the heart pulp, but doc said it was nothing dangerous, meanwhile, the doctor gave me Aspirin for kids (Juspirin) for blood thinning and some 500mg daily of valerian root for relaxing the heart muscle, however i figured that i had some bottle that i bought from a pharmacy once because it contained 5-HTP (hydroxytryptophan) and i read its really helps reducing fibromyalgia symptoms and anxiety/depression, but on the contrary, i read that this element, because of a certain contamination in 1998 in the japanese factory that produced it (from african plant seeds), it had peak X and it resulted in an outbreak of the EMS syndrome (Eosinophilia-Myalgia Syndrome) which can be pretty lethal, so you think i should really take this? recently no EMS case has been reported from 5-HTP supplements but its not FDA approved.

Calmoreal Ingredients:
  • Valerian poweder (500mg)
  • 5-HTP (25 mg)(i think its a really low amount as 150-300mg atleast is advised daily)
  • Lemon Blam powder (15mg)
  • Chamomile powder (15mg)
  • Rosemary powder (15 mg)
  • Skullcap powder (25 mg)
  • Catnip powder (25 mg)
  • Hops flower powder (15 mg)

I have not heard of it in the context you are talking. Many people take it for depression but it should not be taken with an anti depressant I have heard as you can produce to much serotonin. Serotonin is involved in regulating blood pressure. My brother owned a pharmacy and they did a lot of research of what brands of supplements to sell in their store. He told me Nature Made is one company they used and it is pretty available in grocery stores and pharmacies. The other two companies I can't remember but they felt they were good labs. I would say ask a doc or pharmacist but they often do not know enough about supplements. The contamination of supplements and generics is a real worry. They find labs making brand name drugs that look exactly like the real thing but don't contain anything like the real ingredients all the time. You could really push the pharmacy in telling you how reliable the labs they use are. FDA approval doesn't mean much because they don't have the resources to inspect all the labs all over the world that make drugs anyway.
