Hello. I have a problem and i hope someone can give me advice. I am a 32 year old male. I am 6 foot tall and only 110 LBS. I have a calorie intake of around 5000-5500 calories a day, of which I eat a varied diet of meats, eggs fruits and lots of grain foods(IE Pastas, breads, tortillas), and my beverage of choice is coffee. I have no habits other than smoking cigarettes, and drinking coffee. I do not drive, so most of my exercise comes from walking everywhere i go, and working. and I have no psychological issues that i know of. I was 150 lbs when i was in my 20's.. and i have steadily lost weight since i turned 30. I have tryed eating more and more to compensate for the weight loss, but it only seems to speed up my metabolism even more.. Is there really something wrong with me, and should I consider going to the doctor about this? Is my lifestyle contributing to my weight loss? Thank you for your time, and any input you can provide.
Hugs from:

Hi, Orion107, and welcome to Psych Central! I do think you need to go to the doctor to get a physical and talk to him/her about your situation. Maybe you have an overactive thyroid, for example.

I agree with Travelinglady - see your doctor ASAP and get a full physical check-up.

Your body weight is way outside the normal range for somebody of your height so something is not right.

A detailed clinical investigation should shed some light on what the problem is.

Early signs of weight loss could indicate a cancer.

Uncontrolled diabetes can also cause weight loss- muscle disintegration/atrophy. Did the doc do a full panel of tests? Smoking suppresses your appetite and caffeine replaces the energy from food, so it also deters you from eating. Yes the walking definitely contributes to the weightloss. Doc may also refer you to a dietician
