I got an ultrasound a couple weeks ago because my doctor found an ovarian cyst. She tried to call me with the results last week but I was at work. Someone called today so that I would make a phone appointment with my doctor to discuss the results. It's not for a week.

In the meantime I've googled ovarian cancer and I'm freaking myself out, people often confuse IBS symptoms with ovarian cancer symptoms, and people of Eastern European Jewish descent have a greater chance of developing ovarian cancer. I fall into both these categories!

It is hard to relax while awaiting this phone call.

There are a lot of cysts there are perfectly benign, so do not discount that that may be the case as well. It is hard not worry between now and then, but truly until you know the facts, 1. there is nothing you can do to act on it, 2. the worry will cause you more harm than good for something that may not even be an issue. Try to distract yourself from it meanwhile, do things you enjoy, try to relax, stay busy, and know that whatever it turns out to be, you CAN handle it and it sounds like you are in good hands with your doc, following up, doing the right things. Hang in there meanwhile.

As others have said, most cysts are not a big deal, except that they can make periods more painful. For a lot of people, birth control helps shrink or totally get rid of cysts, so that might be what your doctor wants to talk to you about. Generally if it's something really serious, doctors will insist on telling you in person, not over the phone.

I won't tell you not to worry because I know that's nearly impossible with medical stuff. Just want you to know I'm sending good thoughts your way.

It will be ok! I just got dxd with PCOS and boy does birth control help ease things! If it was serious I imagine the Dr would have an early apt set up. Try not to worry, ok?
Thanks for this!
