This is kinda my first time posting in this section and its more of a little rant. I have long suffered with MI and last year I made a terrible mistake that took a pretty bad toll on me. An OD caused serious damage to my kidneys. Well, just spent 3 days in the hospital. Was admitted friday night because my potassium had skyrocketed, my hemoglobin had bottomed and I was a freaking mess. Well good news is, i just started dialysis which will happen 3 times a week, got 4 units of blood so I have more energy…and all I can think about is how am I going to hold down my full time job, which I love, with all of this going on? How to people maintain their work and homelife dealing with constant medical visits?

I'm so sorry that you had such dire circumstances from your OD. I have a friend that did the same thing and had to be on dialysis, but it damaged her nerves in her legs and she can't walk either. Her kidneys improved after a few months on dialysis so she doesn't have to have it anymore. I hope you are lucky enough for your body to heal itself, too. Good luck to you.

I worked with a gentleman that was on dialysis and he was able to utilize FMLA. That meant that he could work when able, and not be penalized when he couldn't.
Like Gayleggg said, maybe it will only be temporary as well. |
