Can I ask a semi serious, semi stupid question of everyone? Typically one goes to a dr for medical advice, but I am not sure I agree with what I am told concerning my heart.
Things that have concerned dr's over the years: irregular heart beat, heart murmur, heart beating in stomach, heart dropping beats then speeding up, heart speeding up when breathing in.
Other factors: family history of heart disease on both sides. Mom has same factors I do and sees a cardiologist who told her her heart words harder than it should plus there's a small leak. One thing she has that I don't is afib. I also know that while my good cholesterol is low, my bad cholesterol ( plaque forming) is higher than it should be. I often feel faint or get "cold water" feeling through veins right before I think I'll black out. All my EKGs are normal.
My question is- shouldn't I be seeing a cardiologist? No dr has ever suggested it and the one I just asked didn't think so. "Go to ER if you feel worse". I'm not in an emergency and one doesn't go to cardios for emergencies anyway. Am I missing something? Do I just ignore all my symptoms? Thoughts?

Go to the cardiologist. Maybe he'll find nothing wrong, but you never know.

Hm, if your insurance will let you go to a cardiologist without a referral, there's no reason not to go. If you do want to go to one, you might try to research to find one that has experience diagnosing autonomic nervous system problems. Not saying that's what you have, but I think you would want a cardiologist that would recognize that kind of problem if they see it.

I'm not sure what country you're in, so it's kind of hard to know what to say.

I'm West Coast USA. I did make an appnt finally for July, but I need to see what autonomic nervous system problems are... is that like autoimmune diseases?
I will research. I have no idea if this Dr knows or not, but I chose the one with the longest experience. She was my gut choice, and then when I looked up the 7 options, she's the one I went with. I'll have to go back to her Web MD site and see.
Thanks for the tip!!

It's great that you found a cardiologist. I found mine after I went to the ER with chest pains, turned out that I was SEVERELY dehydrated. Good luck.
