Hello to everyone. I am 22 years old and live in the UK. I weight 94 kg. I drink 1.5 litres of water a day and drink considerable amounts of beer during weekends. I work physical job, requiring lifting of heavy objects. I would like to share a concern I've been having for the last 6 months.
Since January, I've been having a pain in the right ribcage area. The pain started to occur one day suddenly, when I was walking. Ever since, it appears almost every day, but only while I go outside and start walking. When at home and at rest, the pain is gone. It happens very often, although there are some days where the pain is gone. Now to the pain itself. The pain occurs as a dull, not very strong, but uncomfortable enough discomfort in the back area of my right ribcage. Also, sometimes it is combined with a weird itch, somewhere inside that ribcage. Strangely, when the pain occurs, it makes me go a bit short of breath and I have to inhale deeply in order to feel all right. 2-3 times since January, that same pain occured very sharp and strong for around 2-3 seconds, and then stopped. It was so strong, that I felt like a knife was cutting me. After that, the pain continued to be there, in the way, as I mentioned above. Of course, I went to a doctor. 2 times. First time I went, he checked the area and told me it was a muscle stretch and he advised me not to lift weights, as well as taking Ibuprofen for a pain relief. I did everything he told me for 2 months, but the medicine didn't even relief the pain one bit. After those 2 months, I went again, and this time he sent me for blood tests. I had my kidneys and liver tested, and the results showed that both were functioning normal. Now, we are August, and the pain continues. I don't want to visit a doctor again, since I reached the conclusion that he/she can't diagnose my problem. But I guess I will have to, since the problem is still there and I am getting very worried. Any idea what the issue might be? I would appreciate a lot. Thank you. Last edited by venom0706; Aug 03, 2015 at 06:22 AM. |

When i used to play sports, a general indicator of how hydrated i was usually was whether or not i got a pain in my said. It was usually the right side. You work a physical job and you may not be taking in enough water to compensate for it. Try increasing your water take and see how that goes.
Just fyi, im speaking from my own personal experience. I'm not sure what your pain feels like. Hope you figure out soon what is going on |
