I started having right-sided ear pain and a sore throat on the right side. I went to the doctor and they found a polyp in the back of my throat or something else. I am being referred to an ent. I have had Barrett's esophagus for years which is a precancerous condition of the esophagus. Now I fear I might have cancer. I get really anxious and scare myself. I am only 52. How can I relax about this. I try to be positive but am scared. Please help.

I am so sorry that you are not feeling well. It is good they found the polyp to know what may be causing the problem and are getting you referred to an ENT. Many times though polyps are perfectly benign and non-cancerous. With these things, until I know for sure, I try to distract myself so as not to think about it until I know something definite; I try to keep my mind occupied with other things. Perhaps this might help you too in the interim.
