Dec 2014, I had a cortisone intraarticular injection in my hip which unfortunately gave no relief. I later had total hip replacement. The almost immediate reaction I had was very strange and unsettling. Euphoria,( sexual), including constant arrousal, fantasies, and the urge to act innappropriately. I however did not act on these urges as I also was in complete control and was outside or maybe beside myself observing and keeping myself in check. I felt beautiful, erotic and quite full of myself. Mentally climaxing,( yes, it is possible) and physically masturbating up to 10 times daily. With my husband, experiencing numerous orgasms ,when before one was always the most I could achieve. I also developed a fixation with my Dr. believing it was mutual. This was all pretty heady and again I kept it all in check. I also lost about 12 lbs. right away, and spent my sleepless ( insomnia) spending money on line. Classic migraines with aura also 1-2 times daily. Ok, so tries to inform my Dr. who completely discounted me and suggested hormonal, endocrine problems. I checked out fine He said only oral cortisone would cause this, NOT intraarticular. So , this is my take., too many people out there embarrased to talk about this. Too many Dr s not willing to pay attention. This lasted about 2 months and I was back to normal. Must add, no hx.of mental illness, depression. Side note, weight stayed off, and I still experience multiple orgasms, hmm. Would like to know or hear ,anyone else out there??

It could be the cortisone and have heard of others experiencing this with other injectable sterioids but narcotic pain medications as well.

I know when I had chronic and acute pain, I had no libido. Although when that was finally managed and relieved, my libido came back, just from the relief alone. I used other techniques other than cortisone, however, and it came back full force. Perhaps with our bodies with not being overwhelmed with the pain and discomfort that they can finally turn to pleasure again. Just a theory.

I hope things are going well and that your hip surgery and recovery were successful. Best wishes.
