I am having severe problems typing. My fingers and hand are going in weird positions when I type. I can't type very well like if I try typing like normal I make so many typo's. I have a lot of other symptoms of MS. I need to know if I should get checked out for MS again? I saw a Neurologist in the past months and months ago about possibly having MS and they didn't even do any testing they just told me I don't have MS. My symptoms have since gotten worse. What do you guys think?

you just went through a whole mess of tests in patient for epilepsy right? well those tests would have showed up if you had MS....short version Multiple Sclerosis is where in your body and brain the lining of receptors, neurons, nerve cells degenerate.

a way to wrap your head around this think about a piece of wire that makes your lamps and lights work. inside the middle is the copper wire that makes it work then you have a layer of white, then a bunch of silver wire then the black rubber cover. with ms the black rubber outer part erodes away leaving the silver wiring exposed. causing major pain, vision problems, dizzyness, numbness.

MS does not cause a persons fingers to go in to weird positions when typing. it makes is so that you cant type at all, you can not feel the keys you can not make your fingers push the keys

Also if you had MS your first symptom would not be your fingers contorting into weird positions.

my suggestion is if you are worried about this contact those doctors that did the brain scans, eeg's and other tests that you had done while in the hospital epilepsy unit. they will be able to look at your tests results and tell you if MS showed up.

since they did not diagnose you with MS when you completed all the tests (scans and such for epilepsy) you can probably rest assured that you do not have it.

so what is it...

many things can make a persons fingers not work right...most of them normal things like lack of sleep, not eating right, lack of exercise, spending too much time on a computer keyboard, stress, and for some people theres a normal situation where their brain will make them have symptoms even when they do not when they are reading up on mental and medical problems...there is a mental disorder for this ...factitious disorder imposed on self (in other words having or seeing symptoms of mental disorders and medical problems after researching\reading or hearing about the problem and is not someone forcing you to believe you have it)

another suggestion talk with your treatment providers they will be able to tell you if you are the type of person whos body reacts like this.

You should probably ask for tests to make sure

They thought I had MS. They will probably try to blame all your symptoms on everything but. They only diagnose as a last resort. I had to live not really knowing the truth for 15 years. At that time they said I did not have it.

They didn't find anything when they did the 7 day long EEG. But thanks for reminding me I was supposed to call and schedule a follow up appointment to go over the result.

since they didnt find anything then you can rest assured that you dont have MS. they would have told you the very first day that "something abnormal is showing up" and add other tests too, like a spinal tap (big painful needle in the back) you would have remembered having a spinal tap done not fun, and they would have told you right away as when spinal taps are done the the results only take an hour to half an hour, they would have come to you the second day and said to you that you have MS and now we have to do some MRI's, MRA's nerve conductivity tests, cat scan...full psychological and medical work up, blood work, ....

since they only did an EEG and nothing showed up you can rest assured you do not have MS.

glad you are setting up your follow up appointments
Thanks for this!

I have lupus and it can do weird things. Sometimes my hands go sort of numb and I have to work harder with the muscles in my arms instead, sometimes my fingers seem to have their own life at the keyboard. It also happened that I could barely hold anything, I didn't have enough strength in my hands (just to be extra crappy I had just watched a show on ALS so I got "quite" worried).

But it all clears up for me. It can stay away for a good while. But it always comes back. Actually it is believed that more than half of all lupus patients have CNS involvement. The brain is very sensitive to inflammation, even mild one.

Lupus can cause seizures as well, even if you don't have classic epilepsy. There are a lot of symptoms we can have that doctors do not relate with lupus, but oftentimes they are related, like issues with controlling body temp, odd numbness and weakness, urinary urgency, tinnitus, bouts of forgetfulness... man there are a lot of things.

Mostly doctors just deal with major symptoms, those who are related to pain and can harm your inner organs. They don't really have the time to go through all the quirky symptoms we have.
