I had a traumatic brain injury thirteen years ago when I was 9. But I was never shown the scan and not much was said to me. I believe I still am affected by the injury and that it could be the cause of my mental illness or that it worsened it. Could I have an mri now 13 years later? Would it be covered by insurance? I will ask my doctor but I want to know if anyone here knows 😊

Quote:
my suggestion is contact your treatment provider, explain to them that you would like a new MRI and why, your treatment provider will be able to refer you for the test and look to see whether its covered by your insurance plan. |

Yes, of course you can have an MRI now. In fact, I think you should. But no one here can tell you if your insurance will cover it; that's something your insurance company would have to tell you. My guess, though, is that if your doctor orders the MRI your insurance will cover the cost.
