i want to know if it can cause increased appetite, weight gain? If yes, how intense is this particular side effect? I didnt see it as a listed side effect on webmd.

If you can share your experiences on how long you have been taking it, and the side effects youve experienced/not experienced, thatd be super helpful.

I've been taking Zyrtec daily for years. I'm always tired but I don't think it's due to the Zyrtec. I think it makes my mouth drier when I wake up. About weight gain. I don't know. I think I just eat too much and I'm older so I gain more. I never heard of antihistamines causing weight gain. I have to take it because of bad allergies, even with allergy shots too.
Thanks for this!

The allergy medications make me tired in general. I am now on Zyrtex; I take it daily. This is making me a bit tired and the dry mouth as described above. I have not noticed that it has increased my appetite.

I do know though when I am tired I tend to consume more beverages or food to try to stay awake or if I am feeling sluggish which I interpret as boredom. I eat sometimes when I'm bored or stressed is the other time I eat when I shouldn't. However, I have not actually noticed my appetite itself increased as a result of Zyrtec.

Claritin and Claritin-D I did though notice directly increased my appetite.

Hmm, I take Claritin every day and am hungry a lot. But I am on a diet, too, and am losing weight. I haven't noticed any side effects other than a "dry nose."
Thanks for this!

Likewise, I've never noticed any appetite or weight issues from the antihistamines. I took a number of different kinds over the years. Starting around 2000, I mostly took cetirizine (brand name "Reactine") because most others had a conflict with the antidepressants.

I'm in my late 40s and have had to take antihistamines during the growing season almost all my life. Often I can get away with as little as once a week until ragweed season. On a really good year, I can hold off entirely until then. Some years, the hayfever is bad enough to require the prescription nasal sprays in addition to daily pills. Sadly, no other treatments or home remedies have ever really worked for me.

Actually, I've never personally noticed any side effects of any type from an antihistamine, not even fatigue. I guess I'm lucky in that.
