I have depression and anxiety. Lately I find that I have been scratching my skin almost continuously. It itches all the time. It is my arms, stomach area and chest that itch the most. When I am wearing short sleeves or have sleeves rolled up they still itch. What can I do for this? I have been using Gold bone body lotion that is the strongest one I think that is made and I am still itching.

I'm sorry you're having such a vexing problem. Have you tried any new products or foods recently? Even laundry detergent can cause urticaria. I encourage you to get this checked out with your doctor. Good luck and best wishes.

I have a lot of itching in rash like patches - usually my shin, my legs right at the waist, lower belly and lower back.

My doctor gave me some steroid cream, but told me to only use it in extreme cases. And never on the face.

I have to constantly try to stop scratching and eventually the itch goes away.

A few things come to my mind. Have you moved? Water is different from place to place. Water that is 'hard' or has more minerals in it leaves a residue on our skin. So too can certain cleansers and bath products. If you use the bathtub, consider changing the tub cleaner. Refrain from using body washes for a bit to see if there are any changes. Try to use natural soaps (ie. ivory). Switch for a while to chemical and scent free soaps and hair products and see if the condition improves.

The heat and weather are also factors. Humidity makes me sweat a little and I get itchy.

I have not tried any new products or food and the laundry detergent is the same that I have used for a few years now. It is All free and clear.

my suggestion is contact a treatment provider. we cant tell you why you are having itching problems and what to use because that could cause it to become worse....

let me show you what I mean... what if I suggest you use Vasaline Intensive Care lotion and your problem isnt dry skin its a medication allergy, or any skin parasite problem like scabies or dust mites or lice.... some lotions can cause these problems to become worse ...you could scratch and scratch and end up causing your self infections when the problem isnt topical its inside you... where a change of meds is needed or the lotions dont have the ingredients to take care of such things as scabies, mites and lice.

another problem that lotions might not work for people is life changes like peri menopause, menopause, post menopause, hormone changes, dietary deficiencies, health issues like anemia and others that can cause a person to feel "itchy"

another problem that is not easily fixed with over the counter lotions is things like pollen in the air, poison ivy, poison sumac, poison oak...

my point I could post all day long on guessing what it is and suggesting creams and lotions, and possibly putting you in danger but ultimately the only way to know for sure what this is within you and get it treated so that you wont be feeling so itchy is talking with a treatment provider.
Thanks for this!

A good soak in an oatmeal bath will relieve the itching. You can get it at any drug store. It will help relax you too, a bonus. And, no prescription needed.

i have found that lavender, oil and lotions, are immensely helpful and effective! who woulda thunk it~ but seriously, lavender oil will stop a mosquito bite from itching in just seconds, and dry skin can itch too. lavender lotion works wonders. and if you like the smell, call it aroma therapy, too~

best wishes~

My doctors say I do have anemia. I was not sure if that would cause itching in those locations. If this is the cause of the itching what can I use ?

Have you started any new medications or changes in dosages? That can be a side effect. Could also be allergies. I tend to get anxious and then REALLY itchy everywhere, so there's also that... like feeling like you're shedding your skin or need to get out of it!
