This is really awkward to talk about and I have never discussed this with anyone. As a young child, before my depression "set in" at age 10, I occasionally experienced a phenomenon right after urinating or maybe slightly during urination. A sense of complete emotional detachment enveloped me. For these few seconds (perhaps even a minute or two ) I knew that nothing mattered to me and absolutely nothing- say even a puppy or kitten- would make me feel anything. I also keenly understood that the feeling would pass, and there was nothing I could do to change the feeling. I just had to wait out the few seconds/ minutes to start feeling again. Sometime about the sensation of urine passing and maybe irritating the urethra a little caused this all encompassing emotional detachment. As an adult I don't experience anything this dramatic when urinating (and even as a child it was only occasional) but I still feel some strange "emptiness" sometimes when I go to the bathroom. Has anyone else here experienced anything like this?

Hello Lilliom: Well... I can't say I've experienced anything such as what you describe in particular. However, I have my own set of very strange feelings / emotions that go way back before I even have any reliable memory. (I'll spare you the details.)

Hi Skeezyks. I'm sorry I didn't respond for so long. Honestly,I am disappointed that no one replied with any knowledge of that experience . I guess it's petty unusual. Yes,part of me would like to explore the community here, see how people to what I experience. At the same time, the truth is,I don't have that much spare time so when I do,I mostly just want to have "fun"-watch tv,listening to music. It's just easier to not discuss things. But I appreciate you reaching out.
