I've been suffering from crazy fatigue lately. I keep falling asleep at work, in the mornings. By the afternoons I'm generally ok.
I have sleep apnea, but that is generally in control now that I have a cpap. It also measures how many apneas I have, and apparently I'm having very few.
I think I should see a doc about my fatigue though.
But I'm not sure who to see, should I consult my general practitioner? Maybe it's vitamin deficiency or something he can test for?
Or should I go to my psychiatrist? Maybe something is wrong with my psych meds or it's psych related..

i can't advise you, Mary, but if you find out, please let me know~! i have been taking 2 naps a day plus laying in bed for hours while i'm awake... it's beyond "chronic fatigue", and it's not depression~ maybe i'll try taking some B12, but my latest blood panel didn't indicate the need....

Well... I don't know the answer to this. And I'm neither a mental health nor a medical professional. So there's probably not much I can offer that will be of much consequence. From my perspective, I suspect this is one of those things that's just going to be really difficult to pin down as to what's causing it. My personal opinion would be that it may be worthwhile to start with your GP. I also wonder if there might be any value in seeing a specialist such as an endocrinologist. But then you could certainly also raise this concern with your psychiatrist. Perhaps there may be some "tweaking" of the psych med's you're taking that could help.

I'm no longer on any med's of any kind at all. But when I was on SSRI's (& a few other psych med's) they always made me sleepy. I recall some times when I'd fall asleep on the couch & my wife would have to yell at me to wake me up! Whenever I would mention things such as this to my pdoc, he would always simply suggest varying the times of day I would take my med's. Doing so, however, never really seemed to make any significant difference.

I'd start with your GP and get a complete blood panel done. Make sure you have them test for Ferritin, that's Iron, and isn't tested in a normal CBC panel. Maybe also test your thyroid.

I was totally exhausted a while ago, and was also losing my hair, which is what made me go to the Dr., she tested me and found I was very low on both Ferretin, and B12. Now I'm on supplements for both and have much more energy.

I went through this many months back. I went to my GP who did blood work, but didn’t find anything. What helped me was going to my psych nurse who changed my meds. I was on rexulti and trintellix. I switched to Wellbutrin and now am not sleepy like I was before. Don’t get me wrong, I still have fatigue and low energy, but I don’t have the sleepiness where I was oversleeping every day and taking naps as well.
