Well at least I didn’t lose my hand completely. In fact I loss my pinky, half of my ring finger, the tip of my middle, both my arteries, and broke my jaw in three places. Thankfully I’m right handed and it happened to my left hand. I won’t get into details of what happened. Let’s just say gun powder was involved.
So I’m two months into my six month recovery and one year until I get to my new normal. The hardest thing is not being able to do anything I use too. I use to work with metal and wood. However I can’t do that because my left hand is out of commission and my right hand is almost completely numb from surgery. I can drive and walk short distances now, but I have nowhere to go and little money to spend. This lack of ability to do stuff is really starting to effect me mentally. I’m thankful to be alive and not to of lost my hand. But the worse part of recovery has gotta be the waiting. |

![]() my ![]() ![]() it is not necessary to 'do nothing' while you are recovering from not having the use of your hands.... one thing you can do is take up meditation. there are several member groups about that here on PC (links below): https://forums.psychcentral.com/grou...editation.html https://forums.psychcentral.com/grou...-buddhism.html https://forums.psychcentral.com/grou...n-support.html there is also a type of auditory (sound) therapy that helps a beginner to focus while learning to meditate, called Binaural Beats. you must use stereo earphones while listening to it, but it does help the brain to focus (i recommend the Theta and Delta tracks for meditation; links below): https://www.google.com/search?q=Yout...hrome&ie=UTF-8 you might also make use of the time to watch tv documentaries. so much of your life is going to be taking place in your head, anyway, it's good to enrich the mind.... ![]() ![]() ![]()
