I'm 31 and got labeled a " glaucoma suspect" last week. I go for testing in Sept.

I have a strooooong family hx of it and also have "high pressure and a large optic nerve."

Anyone wanna explain?

I don't know the explanations, but I know it's scaring me for you. I'm thinking about you.

i have been 'referred' (without a referral) to have a glaucoma test...
when you get yours done, would you please tell me what it was like ?
i have been putting it off for a yr, after i had a retinal bulge, which has recurred... i know this is not a good thing,, but do i need to see an ophthalmologist ? because all we have locally are optometrists....

oh, i was just avoiding doing online research, because of the vagaries of medical stuff, and my difficulty reading such stuff. here is a link on the test for glaucoma and the possible forms of treatment of glaucoma:

testing:
https://www.allaboutvision.com/eye-exam/expect.htm

treatment:
https://www.glaucoma.org/gleams/glau...de-effects.php

what is annoying to me is, i had all those tests done, even the yellow eye drops, the puff of air, the light exam of the back of my eye (my eye pressure was higher than normal), and this doctor still referred me for a glaucoma test~!! what is going on ? what am i missing ? who do i see ? crap~!

They look into the eyes in more detail than a normal exam. Just a few more tests. It's painless. Some of the tests get computer readouts with numbers which tell the doc if you have glaucoma or how advanced it is.

I was also diagnosed with high pressure and large nerve.

Did you know that some meds can affect it? You might want to research and find out if your med is affecting your eyes.

I was on cymbalta 3 years and switched to zoloft a couple of months ago. I swear I can tell a difference in my vision. (Eye doc didn't believe me. Lol)
