Does anyone else here get pseudoseizures? I've only had 3 in my life, so I'm still getting used to the idea of them. The third one was tonight around 2 am. I know they happen when I'm under more stress than usual and having more psych symptoms than usual... But that's the only correlation I have been able to make.
What causes yours? Is there anything that helps lessen them or stop them altogether?

They are basically normal seizures, but don't have the abnormal brain waves of epilepsy.

I have a friend who has had pseudoseizures for a few years now. She is amazing in the way that she still gets around and refuses to let them interfere in her life despite the fact that do exhaust her. They are set off by stress. Stress can come in many forms. She could be really happy and that will set one off. She has two or three per week.

I didn't know even good stress could set them off. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.

I have had one psuedoseizure. I can tell you from experience that all anyone thinks about them in the area I live is that you are faking a seizure. It pissed the Emts around here off bad. I had an amazing amount of stress at the time and was getting no sleep.

My neurologist is great. She knows about them and is trying to help me lessen my stress level. But both of the recent ones have been when I was exhausted from lack of sleep. I have bad insomnia. I wonder if that is a major contributing factor?
