I could really use a 'support' person or people, someone I can talk to. the person I had, suddenly died a couple weeks ago. she was the only person I had.

I'm just past the six-month mark with my concussion brain injury! (she'd been helping me thru this since it happened) i'm still dealing with symptoms - enough to the point where I'm going in for a brain MRI in a few days. and i'm alone and scared and nervous and worried..........

I've had one serious concussion, one moderate concussion and several mild ones. You are more than welcome to message me if you want. I've had a few MRIs and CT scans in my life, and they can be unpleasant but they aren't the worst thing I've had to do. I am absolutely willing to help out.

i've had my share of 'tests/scans' done over the years, so i'm use to that. in fact, this will be my 4th MRI in less than two years, with number five to come in October!

it's just.... either they find something or they don't - either one is concerning! if they find something, then gotta deal with that. if they don't, then that means more testing & more time. and sadly, this isn't my first brain injury either!

i just don't know if i can keep doing all these appts, most of them requiring a 2-hour one-way drive! how does a 'regular' healthy person handle this, one who doesn't have MIs on top of things?!?

Take it one day at a time. Driving that far is expensive and does suck!!!! Be careful. I hope they don't find anything Jrae. I hope the technician(s), nurse(s), etc. are kind and calming. Hugs.

The drive has to be awful... Normal people just get annoyed and vent usually. When MI is added to the mix, it gets complicated. I hope you can get an answer, at least. Having an answer may be more calming than still not knowing, even if that answer isn't ideal or good. Knowing what is wrong and being able to tackle it head on is better in my opinion.

In the past I had MRI and PET scan for possible TBI. Yes I was nervous to find out results and turned out I have mild TBI and that is why my neuropsychological exam was abnormal. Had to fast before PET scan and it then detected that there was mild hypometabolism in certain of my brain and correlated with my abnormal IQ test scores. Good luck and hope it turns out ok, I can certainly empathize and sympathize, it’s not fun to go through testing and wait for results.

What exactly do you mean by abnormal IQ test scores?

Abnormal IQ scores meaning nonverbal IQ was 32 points higher than performance score due to visual spatial deficits. These scores made sense since growing up excelled in English, writing, learning foreign languages and needed tutoring for math such as algebra.
