Hi all,
I am new here. I have been having issues with my poop for a while. They didn't seem like anything so I let them go.. My poop seemed brighter color than normal and was smaller. Thinner. But I wasn't eating as much and going regularly. So I assumed it was nothing. But this last month it has really ramped up. Terrible gas and diarrhea. So I asked my doc for a FIT test. It came back positive. Blood in my stool. I wouldn't be so freaked out if I wasn't having these symptoms as well. I got an appointment for a colonoscopy in a week but I am scared this is going go be cancer. I am just 50. My doctor didn't tell me that the age had changed for screening to 45 to 50. Had she I wouldn't have been screened. I did have a FIT screening in 2017 that was negative but still. Trying not to freak out.. can anyone offer some words of comfort? |

Hi NatalieJastrow. Welcome to Psych Central. I am sorry you have concerns about your healthy. Hope it is nothing serious.
I try to not react because often my reaction is worse than the situation I face. It is not easy to stay calm when we face possible serious issues, but on the other hand, what good does it do if I get upset about something that may not even happen? And even if my fears are justified, I take more comfort from accepting things I cannot change. Hope you get a clean bill of health.
