I was a bit worried about being able to get my flu shot this year, due to COVID restrictions, and predictions that the vaccine wouldn't be available until the end of Oct. But when I called my pharmacy to renew my prescriptions for tomorrow, my pharmacist asked me if I wanted to book an appointment. I said of course, so I'm getting my shot on Wed. I'm feeling really relieved to be able to get it out of the way early.

How are other people finding getting flu shots this year?

Everybody I know is getting their shot early. Most of them have already gotten the shot. I got mine on the 1st. I hadn’t heard it would be difficult I had heard people really need to get them this year. The local news here has been telling people to get out and get their shots. So I assumed it was that way everywhere. I wonder if less people are getting them that’s why the news is pushing it?

I booked mine weeks ago at the pharmacy and no problem. In the UK some providers are restricting to the over 65s only until new stocks come in but I was lucky as I had already booked mine in.

Got mine a couple weeks ago. Made an appointment with my pharmacy and just went in and got it. Heard it was available so I figured I'd go and get it out of the way.

Also I live in supportive housing and here at the apartment complex a pharmacist came yesterday to give flu shots to anyone who didn't already get one

I forgot to come back to this to update. I got the shot as planned and then was back home and about an hour after the injection, my neck started itching. I looked in the mirror and my neck, collar bone and chest were covered in hives. I freaked out a bit and called my pharmacist to find out what I should do and she just said to take benadryl, which fortunately I had on hand. I did and they cleared up in a couple of days. Don't know what this means for getting the shot in future years. I've never had any kind of reaction before.

Do you know if you are allergic to eggs, I know some vaccinations ask about allergies to eggs maybe something in the vaccine has egg related substance. Glad the Benadryl helped your symptoms.

Nope - no allergies to eggs. I eat them all the time. It was just weird.

I get hives sometimes with the cold virus - it's like my body goes into over reaction mode, hives happen when your body releases histamine. I haven't had a reaction like that to vaccine before though.
