I was 168.2 yesterday and I went to the ER and they gave me fluids through an IV for over an hour. Then I had litacaine while getting a cat scan done and then some pain meds all through the IV. I had a big dinner last night but I didn't eat at the hospital or much during the day.

I weighed myself a few minutes ago and I was 174. Is all or most of that from the IV fluids? Thats a lot to gain overnight.

Do IV's make you gain weight?
Yes !! The sodium in those fluids alone will make you retain water. Fluid weighs more than its equivalent non fluid thing relatively speaking. Carry a 20lb baby and a 20lb bag of water and see the difference. It’s Temporary and will be peed out.
