It’s not the worst thing in the world but it bugs me.

I had covid a year ago, I lost taste and smell completely for several weeks, never experienced anything like it, nothing like the dulling I’ve experienced before with a congested nose (in fact I didn’t have nasal congestion or a cough even), it just switched off like someone flicked a switch. It came back gradually after a few weeks/month.

However there are some things which are still not smelling to me as they did before, onions and swede (turnip) they both have an odd smell to me now, not a pleasant one. Also some body deodorant sprays smell unpleasant too, it’s like I can only smell the chemicals in them, not the nice smell they had before.

Is anyone else still experiencing similar?

That sounds just awful. I'm sorry that has happened to you and I hope those effects of SARS-COVID-19 will go away with time. The sooner the better. I haven't had COVID yet and it scares me something awful. What they call "long COVID" seems especially scary. My heart goes out to you! ! !

I have covid now. Smell and taste are unchanged. But I’ve fluid build up in my ears and everything is underwater. I’m hoping it’s temporary. I do have cough and congestion though. Sorry your smell has changed.

Oh that sounds unpleasant, hope that goes quickly for you .

I’ve heard the more recent variants are less likely to affect the taste and smell like earlier variants did, glad that’s not happening to so many people now. My family who had covid this summer had similar symptoms to the ones you describe and they’re all fully recovered so hopefully you will soon too.

Thanks, I’m hoping they’ll eventually go away too, I guess I’d hoped by a year things would be as before.

I agree long covid sounds awful although no one I know had that effect thankfully.
