Metamucil constipated me, so I took exlax. Felt fine later. But friend said it's a stimulant and can be harmful when healing my rectum.
The dr advises metamucil daily and a stool softener. Well I took a stool softener and about 24 hours later wham. Accident at work. I left early stating upset stomach. It was, before I pooped alot. Came home took a bath, had to throw away favorite undies. No metamucil yesterday I poop good without it with it I get constipated. But now I hesitate to take stool softener too and basically just want nature to take its course. dr wants me consistent with metamucil and alternate days stool softener. I really don't like the affects of metamucil and I eat plenty of fiber. I just don't know what to do. I can't be this crazy with pooping. I just want my normal daily poop.

Pooping accident at clients house today threw away another pair of underware and made a huge mess of her bathroom I had to clean. She had me take out the trash so glad she had a bag. But omg this is affecting my job in a very bad way i can't take weeks off I need my system to normalize like yesterday.
I cannot handle this I'm pooping several times a day and I used to just once in the morning. Now it's like poop an hour later poop, and maybe later poop again. It's driving me crazy. I actually took metamucil hoping it tightens the poop up because I had diaherra today without it yesterday. I hate recovery. It's the worst part cause I have no time to really recover.

My only contribution to this issue is to consult with a registered dietitian. I cannot tell from the thread whether this has been or is an option.

I have another idea…. Check with a pharmacist. Who knows? Maybe there is a better option for you. Pharmacists know almost all drugs whereas doctors often refer to drugs they are used to prescribing.
