I don't drink water bottles because I drink them too fast and I get sick. So I started buying 1 gallons of water and lugging it around and taking sips whenever. A gallon lasts me about 3 days.

Is that enough? I had been practically gouging myself on regular size bottles of water and I got a 6 pack 1 gallon each for a decent deal at Sams Club yesterday.

Simple way to check for dehydration: dark or absence of urine and pinching your skin (if it goes straight back to normal you're hydrated, if it stays kinda in the same position after you let go/isn't very elastic you're dehydrated and need more water). If you get sick you're either drinking too much or too fast. If your pee is clear you're drinking too much. If you're properly hydrated (lemonade colored pee, elastic skin), you're drinking enough.

Different people have different water needs. Someone who is sedentary in a cold, moist climate and eats a lot of cucumbers, celery, watermelon, etc. and drinks several cups of herbal tea a day will need way less water intake than a backpacker in Death Valley.

No, it is not. Water not only hydrates, it helps flush the body of toxins.
Thats only 42 oz a day.

Apparently you are a douche if you carry around a gallon of water because you seem like you are flexing how hydrated you are.

Walmart sells hydration backpacks if you want to free up your hands. The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women.
2.7 liters is about .7 gallons. (less than 6 lbs of H20) The backpacks range in volume from 2 L to 18L, with the larger ones able to meet your daily minimums for the week! Each liter of water weights a kilogram or 2.2 lbs.
