so i told you guys about this job in new york and how there was a good chance of being bitten by ticks. well i went to the e.r. last night and have lyme disease.
i woke up yesterday morning and couldnt move a muscle. i eventually went to work and then took a 3 hour nap after work. then later yesterday i started having horrible body pains. by 830 last night i was crying because my body ached so bad. i was dizzy, had a headache... the works. so my boss took me to the e.r. and i have to take Doxycyclin for 30 days, twice a day. luckily, being on this antibiotic for a month basically guarantees that I wont get it again while Im here. I guess it stays in your system for quite a while. Im much better today and my body aches are almost gone. so if youre ever in the catskills... check for ticks! lol |

Glad you got it quickly before it could "fester" and cause more problems later.

<font color="purple">Yeah, in NY if you aren't in a city or town, you're in the wildreness and need to watch for ticks...in my expirience. I live up North here in NY so I have to be careful...thankfuly I've never gotten bitten...I'm a bit paranoid about lyme disease, and have been since I was a kid.

lyme is nasty. I had it awhile back. You are lucky they knew what to check for. A lot of people go a long time before being diagnosed.
Hope you feel better soon.

yeah, unfortunately the "tell tale" sign of a bulls eye rash is only in 60-80% of cases and i was not one of them. luckily my professor (whom im working under) told me exactly what it feels like (hes had it before) so when i woke up and couldnt move a muscle I knew.
i feel 1,000 times better now. thanks for all your responses! ![]() |
