I was wondering about this. I have again been stopped up (sorry for being graphic), I mean constipated and just had the idea that maybe taking a supplement of magnesium might help because when I take Magnesium Citrate or Milk of Magnesium it helps that problem. So since both of them have Magnesium in them I thought about taking a supplement of Magnesium. What do you think? I see my doc this afternoon and was going to bring it up or do you think it's a stupid idea?

I spoke with my doctor about it yesterday and he said he was hestitant to use a supplement like that because it is so easy to get too much in your system. He told me to just eat a high fiber diet and take a colace every morning. He said if that didn't work then I could use the other's as a fill in.

Yes, you need a high fiber diet. Eat more poopcorn :-) I buy the new double fiber bread too and make sure the cereal I eat is high fiber. We need 25-35 grams of fiber a day and when I first started tracking what I was eating, I was only getting in the low teens. Single supplements aren't good because everything is related to other things and you take one and it messes up others.

Oatmeal is good, and good for you. Also yarrow works within hours gently, or overnight. You can buy it at the health food store in drops to put into water, or capsules. Drink more water than you already are. TC!

WalMart makes a Colace product that is less expensive than the name brand and works great. My GI doc suggests at least 2 a day for me because I have trouble digesting following a partial pancreas removal. It's been very helpful and keeps me comfortable and pain-free most of the time.

I start my day with a bran flake cereal that has 5g of fiber, 4 of those are insoluble fiber. I always add blueberries and sometimes also a half a banana.

I drink plenty of water and I rarely eat only a very little meat; I eat lots of vegetables too, and all that helps.

I take two Magnesium supplements every day and it helps keep me regular... The majority of people are low in Magnesium anyway...but adding fiber to your diet is good too.... I am on a low carb diet so I don't get as much fiber as I need to...
