I am so tired all the time. I wake up tired and go to bed tired. If I stay still to long I run the risk of falling asleep. I mean by that if I'm not doing something if I'm just watching T.V. or sitting still waiting for something like waiting in a doctor's office not like driving or anything.

I wear my CPAP mask religiously and also my oxygen at night and have discussed this with my sleep doc and he has adjusted the level in my CPAP but it hasn't changed anything. I am sick and tired and being tired all the time.

I don't drink caffiene to the excess anymore and am wondering if that is the cause of it. I used to drink heavy loads of Diet Mt. Dew and now only drink about 3 Diet Dr. Peppers a day. I used to drink about 6 of the Dt Dew's a day. I don't really want to up my caffiene intake but if that is what it's going to take to wake me up. My pdoc told me his office is going to try Pepsi Max as one of the soda's they offer...I teased him by saying you want your clients bouncing off the walls even more huh? He laughed.

I am thinking about calling his office tomorrow and seeing about getting off another sleeping med and seeing if maybe that is the problem maybe I'm taking too many meds that cause sleepiness.

When was your last blood test? Could be thyroid or anemia, etc.? I don't think upping caffeine is a good idea; we don't "need" caffeine and it has other effects on our system that aren't entirely good. I would try more exercise, see if that wakes you up some.

Funny you should ask that...I just went in and some blood work done this morning. I am meeting with my Gastric Bypass doc next month and he always orders a battery of blood work before you see him..I can remember some of the stuff he had ordered...I had a CDC, Lipid, B12, Vitamin D, Thyroid and some other stuff too.

I think a full review of your medicines could be really useful. Maybe the doc prescribing for you doesn't know about your extreme sleepiness. If possible, try getting off any sort of depressant/tranquilizer type medicine that would slow you down, make you sleepy, etc. It is hard to balance our different medical needs with the medicines we take. Sometimes a med may be good to help one symptom (e.g. anxiety) but then result in other bad symptoms (e.g. sleepiness). Perhaps ask yourself, which are the most important symptoms for you to deal with. If the sleepiness has assumed most importance for you now, maybe cut back on other meds and deal in different ways with more anxiety (or whatever the symptom is you are taking the sleepy drugs for).

I tend to get anemic and this makes me very tired. The best thing for me is to eat red meat semi-regularly. I really don't eat red meat that much, but my doc told me it would make me feel so much better, and she was right. I buy a large steak and cut it into strips and freeze them. Then I have one for breakfast a couple of times a week. Really helps. (I can't tolerate iron pills.) Anyway, don't rule out causes such as anemia, thyroid, etc., as suggested upthread.
