I recently finished a 3rd course of antibiotics for sinus and ear infections, about 4 days ago I had my upper right bicuspid tooth extracted and still having the sinus condition finishing my course of Augmentin 875mg after 14 days.

I tried to explain to the Dentist my concern of my overall poor health and battles with infection and asked him not for any pain medication, (I have that from pain management,) and he refused to place on antibiotic despite my request concern of my immune system being down.

And now I am having terrible acute ear pain with blood in the ear canal when gently putting a cotton swab into the ear.

My jaw and tooth missing area are throbbing and have a terrible headache, and am unsure what to do and wondered if anyone could be of assistance on rater to wait it out? Take the lortab and pain meds, wait and make an appointment with my MD, or go the the Emergency Room for quicker examination?

I am so down and sick,on top of being in a major depressive phase and suffering.

My only outside contacts are my Borderline Mentally Disturbed Mother, who drives me places, and my father who is an alcoholic and cant be depended on. My mothers husband pretty much has refused to help me in any way and my siblings are as all the above 'busy' and it just adds to the depression feeling a burden and having it justified by being pacified by denial of the overall picture literally being left here with no means of transportation except when I make mom mad by taking me to the doctor when it is inconvenient for her.

Mother cant find time in her schedule to even take me to the hospital and have no public transportation and she came last evening and I was in bed and she shoved some sort of pill (musinex?) in my mouth and then did some things around the apartment and now she is at church and even when she is here I am alone.

Any suggestions, or experience, advise is greatly appreciated, other than to put a OTC pill in my mouth when half conscious and leave me here. Thank you please help. The computer is all I have second to God.

Thank you please if you believe say a quick prayer for me and my entire desperate situation, sincerely krzyk101

Consider the payers said krzy...

But please see another Doctor..you seem to have a seriously acute infection that the present course of antibiotics are not addressing.

Infections are always serious but in the head area it is especially concerning.

Some bacteria have become tolerant of specific regimines of antibiotics.

Please get another opinion quickly..inner ear and optic nerve damage and movement to the heart are all potentials of poorly treated infections in the head.

Please,,,with care,

Lenny

Call the dentist and ask him to call in a prescription to the pharmacy for you.
Thanks for this!

Not sure how likely this is, but is it possible your ear drum has perforated? Just a thought from the ear ache and the bleeding in the ear. You said something about going to the Emergency Room, I think you should go there to get checked out if you can, because I for one am not sure how serious this might be.

I thank you for the reassurance all, and Silverqueen I believe as much as I hate to go to the ER, I believe I will go and have my ears checked out, I am already hard of hearing and I can not risk going deaf on top of all the other things. Thank you for the advise of going to the ER for examination. KK101

I'm glad to hear that you are going to the emergency room. It is concerning all of the symptoms you are having, especially the blood in your ear!

Please let us know how it goes.

Hoping you feel better soon!

Thank You for all the reply's and support.

I went to the ER and the Doc prescribed me antibiotic ear drops and advised me to place one drop of mineral oil into each ear every night.

I am going to have to go to an ENT specialist, will know more then so for now I at least got an examination and unsure what he the doctor meant about the canal being inflamed and the blood coming from that, so hopefully the ENT specialists can give me more advise or treatment, thanks again for all the support and encouragemnet, it is much appreciated.

Thanks Silverqueen,

I hope that it is not anything worse, will know more once I go to the Ear nose and throat specialist.

Now I am dealing with the oral surgery I had done a week ago.

I cant understand why I am still having such facial and jaw pain on the right side where the tooth was extracted, the right upper bicuspid, and worry over the 'dry socket' thing and how would one know if they have a 'dry socket' and what to be done about a 'dry socket?"

God bless all. krzykris101

Well, the drops I received in the ER did not fix the problem.

I followed up with my doctor and was put on another well, 2 antibiotic's for the problem and referred to an ENT specialist.

I am still having ear pain and infection not clearing up so she put me on LEVAQUIN TAB MG , I am fearfully of the listed side effects and am hoping they do not come up or that the benefit of this antibiotic outweights the risk, also I am to put 10drops of ofloxacin in both ears for 10 days.

I hope to hear more for the condition from the specialist and am worried over infection so close again to my head.

Has anyone ever had these ear problems or taken the levaquin? I am worried about the ruptured tendons associated with it. Also I do have CNS disease and side effects of Levaquin can increase this. Maybe I should put this in the drug forum only wanted to keep in this thread.

Thanks for listening kk101
