I have an idea for a weight loss challenge.
I'm thinking of making the challenge last for 3 months. Everyone who participates puts in $10 to a PayPal account (not mine since you may not trust me, I'm thinking a moderator or admin). Everyone calculates a goal weight for the end of the 3 months. At the end of the 3 months the cash will be split evenly among all those who reach their goal weight. If people drop out or do not meet their goal weight, they will not get any money back. To make sure people are honest about their weights, everyone needs to submit a photo of their feet on a scale with a piece of paper that has the date on the scale. You would submit a before picture and a picture every week to keep yourself accountable. Now, I haven't solved the problem of keeping out weights confidential, so I guess for now you'll just have to show your weight, unless someone comes up with an idea. You calculate your goal weight by using a deficit of 500 kcal at this site: http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_loss.php I picked 500 kcal because it is seems like a reasonable yet challenging amount to cut back. Now of course you would use a combination of activity and eating healthier to meet this deficit. Just enter in your current weight, 3 months and a deficit of 500 kcal. Those who will be underweight at their goal weight are no eligible. I am thinking lots of people have the New Year's resolution to lose weight. I want to lose weight too. What do you think of this idea? Is it feasible? Maybe I would have to start a social group for this.
